How to download TikTok videos on PC and Mac
On a computer, saving a TikTok takes three clicks in any browser. Here is how, and how to make sure the file plays on Windows.
Step 1: Copy the video’s address
- On tiktok.com: open the video so it fills the page, then copy the address from the browser bar. It looks like
https://www.tiktok.com/@name/video/7…. - In the TikTok desktop app or on your phone: Share › Copy link, then send it to yourself.
Step 2: Paste it into TikTok to MP4
Go to tiktoktomp4.app, click the box, press Ctrl + V (Windows, Linux) or ⌘ + V (Mac), then Download.
Step 3: Save the file
Click the version you want. It downloads to your Downloads folder; Chrome and Edge show it in the download list at the top right, Firefox in its download arrow, Safari in its download list.
Will the file play on my computer?
| Computer | H.264 (Plays everywhere) | HEVC (sharpest) |
|---|---|---|
| Mac (QuickTime, Photos) | Yes | Yes |
| Windows 10/11 (Media Player, Photos) | Yes | Only with the HEVC Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store |
| VLC on any system | Yes | Yes |
| Video editors | Yes | Recent versions only |
If an HEVC file opens on Windows with sound but no picture, either install VLC, add the HEVC extension, or simply download the H.264 version. More fixes.
Saving many videos
Every download link works with download managers, and paused downloads can be resumed. Links stay valid for a few hours; if one has expired, paste the TikTok link again for a fresh one.
